Together We Can Silence the Hate

On April 21st IMAlive, Frank Warren – PostSecret, Actress – Torrey DeVitto, Author – Jennifer Niven and Motivational speaker – Kevin Brooks will join the Day of Silence. On this day people all over the world support members of the LGBTQ community and make a powerful stand to silence bullying, harassment and discrimination the LGBTQ community has to face.

In solidarity we have designed a t-shirt that we will sell to raise awareness and to show that we support people of any gender or sexuality. These shirts will be mailed in time to wear on the Day of Silence. However, the sale ends on April 3rd.

Join us in taking the stand. Together we can do great things! Order now: https://www.booster.com/dayofsilence

What is the Day of Silence?

GLSEN’s Day of Silence is a student-led national event organized in thousands of schools, bringing awareness to the silencing effects of anti-LGBTQ name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. Students from middle school to college take a vow of silence in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBTQ behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBTQ students and those perceived to be LGBTQ. https://www.glsen.org/day-of-silence

This is last years video we created for the Day of Silence.

Why our volunteers will take part in this campaign:

  • I’m an IMAlive volunteer, and I grew up with two moms back in the 70’s when things like that weren’t accepted at all. I know the hate and discrimination first hand, and don’t want anyone to have to ever live with it anymore.

  • Because everyone matters.

  • No one should have to hide who they are. No one should feel like they are less because of who they love.

  • People need to know they are not alone.

  • I stand for those who can’t stand for themselves.

  • No one should feel uncomfortable for being who they are.

  • Solidarity – I’m on the spectrum.

  • So honored to be a volunteer at IMAlive and be a part of the change.

  • When asked to share why I am doing things like this, all I can ask myself is why not? I identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum and I am proud of it.

  • I am an IMALive volunteer and mother of a LGBTQ+ youth.

  • For my Uncle.

  • As an IMAlive volunteer, I’m proud to support this organization and the causes they stand for.

  • Member of LGBTQA+ community.

  • As an IMAlive volunteer and a member of the LGBTQ community, I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of this cause.

  • We need to raise awareness and acceptance for the LGBTQ community. No one should have to feel suicidal due to the stigma of sexual orientation.

  • Together we can silence the hate. Together we can make a big difference in the world.

  • For my friends.
  • Because you are all amazing. ❤️
