We here at IMAlive are so fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers. As you may have known, IMAlive has recently grown to 220 active volunteers and that number keeps on growing every single day. We truly want to express our gratitude to every single one of our volunteers for helping make 2017 into a successful year in responding to those in crisis. Your hard work, efforts and determination to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health, all while listening to those at the most vulnerable points in their lives has not gone unnoticed.
With that being said, there can only be one Volunteer of the Year and we are so proud to announce that our 2017 Volunteer of the Year is…
Liz from the U.K
In late 2016, Liz joined the IMAlive team as a certified crisis responder through the Random Acts sponsorship. Since then, Liz has stood out to many of her supervisors and co-volunteers as being kind hearted, warm and genuine. It is clear that Liz puts her heart and soul into each crisis chat she does, making sure that a person in crisis feels listened to. She goes over and beyond on shifts and remains confident and calm. Liz also has been known to interact with supervisors when she feels she needs the support and has blossomed with each bit of advice or feedback that has been given to her. No doubt, the passion and determination Liz shows to help those in crisis has shaped her into the volunteer she is today.
Liz has been described as a force of power that does not stop, that there is this energy that is indescribable when people are in her presence. Many also describe that her energy is whole-hearted and inviting and that it shows when she connects with the people in crisis that she chats with.
Liz also has such a great personality and it has been an absolute pleasure not only working alongside her but getting to know her. She is friendly, open and bubbly and just a pleasure to be around.
Way to go, Liz! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you’ve put into IMAlive and those who you have chatted to. We all hope you know how very appreciated you are.
Congratulations to Liz, our Volunteer of the Year for 2017!
