IMAlive: Volunteer of the Year 2018

We here at IMAlive are so fortunate to have such wonderful Volunteers. We want to take a moment to truly express our gratitude to every single one of our Volunteers for helping make 2018 into yet again, another successful year in responding to those in crisis. Your hard work, efforts and determination to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health, all while listening to those at the most vulnerable points in their lives has not gone unnoticed.

Our Volunteer of the Year for 2018 has stood out to her Supervisors and fellow Volunteers as being “compassionate” and “positive”.

With that being said, we are thrilled to announce that our Volunteer of the Year (drumroll please) for 2018 is:

– Sarah from Pennsylvania –

In early 2018, Sarah joined IMAlive through a Random Acts sponsorship and since then, has blossomed into a wonderful and remarkable Volunteer.

Here are a few words from our Supervisors:

  • It is always such a joy to work with Sarah. Her care and compassion for the person in crisis is evident and she does a great job embodying the values of IMAlive.
  • Sarah is very caring for all who come to IMAlive. She follows HEART and isn’t afraid to ask for guidance when needed. It is a pleasure to work with her.
  • Her abilities have been growing over the months and although she is able to take most chats from start to finish with no problem, she does not hesitate to ask if she does have a question or want feedback as to the course of action she would like to take. During down time between chats, she will often ask about how to improve her skills or specific questions related to a situation she feels she may have handled better and will often self-identify if there is something that she may have done wrong. Sarah’s attitude towards the person in crisis is always kind, respectful and accepting, without judgement of any sort. Her interactions and reflections show that she truly has the best interest of the person in crisis at heart in every chat. It is a joy to work with her every week.
  • Sarah is very patient and conscientious when communicating with PICs.

Congratulations to Sarah, our Volunteer of the Year for 2018!
