Inside The Life of an IMAlive Volunteer

Veronica from California

I decided to volunteer with IMAlive because I figured I could make a difference in someone’s life. Mental health is something I grew knowing during my college undergrad years and I realized how important the subject is. In volunteering, I learned a lot of things about my own mental health that I wish to focus on improving. That little difference helps.

Something many don’t know about me is that I am currently going through a credential program at California State University to become an English Teacher. I am about to embark on a journey as a substitute teacher while working as a tutor for AVID (college prep) and English on the side. Someday I wish to travel abroad and release fiction novels about characters going through mental health problems in uncommon fantasy settings.

I recently found out that I hit a milestone within IMAlive – I volunteered for over 100 hours so far, GOALS!  I get into helping people one crisis at a time that I never bother counting. This is amazing and I thank all the Supervisors who supported me throughout this journey so far.
