Hope’ is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—
And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—
I’ve heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me.
Today on World Suicide Prevention Day we want to remind you that hope is out there. Often the hardest part is asking for help. Suicide is still a topic that we like to keep quiet about although it is one of the leading causes of death, especially among young people.
IMAlive is a free anonymous suicide and crisis hotline where you can speak to a trained volunteer that wants to help you find hope.
Together we can spread hope, we can let people know that they don’t have to struggle by themselves. While we remember everyone that has lost their life to their darkness, we want to focus even more on the living that are still fighting their demons, we want to remind you that we at IMAlive are here for you, to help you find hope and help. You are not alone.
Spread the message of hope. Let people know they are not alone. Don’t be afraid to reach out if you cannot find hope by yourself. Start a conversation. Ask a friend about thoughts of suicide that you know is struggling right now. Don’t shy away from the tough conversations. Because only together we can prevent suicide.
