I’ve always been a reader and huge bookworm, learning to read before I even entered school. I also fell in love with comics at a young age because of my brother. Since I was a kid I’ve fallen asleep thinking and dreaming about fantasy worlds and superheroes. Heroes have always been my sidekick. Batman, Captain America and Black Widow. Frodo Baggins, Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. They are the ones that bring me happiness, and the ones that gave me purpose. It was because of reading books like Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia was I was a young kid that made me want to be a writer. I wanted to create worlds for people like C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien did for me.
The world can be tough and cruel sometimes, even for someone like me that is pretty content with how my life is going. But on my worst days, I always pick up a book, or another comic book and my favorite heroes remind me that I am strong. That if they can do it, so can I. They remind me that I’m not alone. My life will never feel empty when I am surrounded by my bookshelves. I have a hundred different worlds that I can escape to and learn more things about myself with every page.
They may only be alive on the page, but heroes given me hope and brought me strength in more ways than I can describe. Heroes will always be my sidekick.
