On Gratitude

No matter where you are, what you celebrate (or don’t celebrate) the concept of being thankful, be it the holiday season, or not, is something we can all embrace. We don’t need a holiday to be thankful; in fact, sometimes it’s nice to take stock of what and who we’re grateful for, just because it’s a Tuesday (even a Tuesday before Thanksgiving) and we’re here on this ball of sea and land suspended in space – think about that for a moment, how amazing is that?!

Here at IMAlive, we asked some of our amazing volunteers to share what they’re thankful for and we think it acts as a reminder that despite almost all of us having our own stresses, struggles and challenges, there’s often something we are grateful for, whether that’s a cup of tea after a long day or an amazing friend, partner or pet. If you’re reading this and feeling like you’re in a space where gratitude feels hard, that’s ok too, you’re not alone.

  • “I’m grateful for a supportive working team.”
  • “I’m thankful for the chance to give something back.”

  • “I’m grateful for IMAlive allowing me to be the anonymous, faceless person on the other end of a chat.”
  • “I’m grateful for knowing that there are still good people in the world that want to help others not for profit but because it’s the right thing to do.”

  • “I am grateful for the freedom and ability I have to volunteer and help where I can, the tolerance I feel from my spouse when I am on “another shift” of something (I am a bit addicted to volunteering), and the support of those I love in all of my endeavours (paid or unpaid).”
  • “I’m so grateful for all the absolutely incredible and supportive friends that have come into my life in the past year.”
  • “I’m grateful for my pets.”
  • “I’m grateful for my wonderful friends, who are always there for me.”
