Inside the Life of a Volunteer

After a few years into working in a rather superficial line of work, I realized that I needed some kind of balance. I was feeling like the work that I did on a daily basis didn’t really matter on the bigger scale of things. Volunteering with IMAlive has given me that balance, that I felt I was lacking in my life. I’m now able to have a positive impact on other people’s lives but apart from helping others, this volunteer opportunity has also helped me to help myself. I feel like, since I’ve started volunteering with IMAlive, I’ve grown so much as a person and the positive feedback from people in crisis continuously inspires me to strive to be a better person and keep working on myself. I love being able to give people hope, to give them a safe space where they feel heard and understood without being judged. I love being the tiny little spark of light in a person’s darkest time
that motivates them to keep fighting. And for me personally, I love to be able to do something that I can be proud of.

Something many don’t know about me? I work as a freelance hair & makeup artist for weddings, photo shoots and video shoots. In my free time I love doing creative things like knitting, drawing, photography, writing and crafting.
